Get involved in Heritage Week 2026
We are looking for participants to join this exciting celebration of our local heritage – owners of historic buildings, churches, factories, local shops, restaurants, pubs and other businesses, individuals with special knowledge or collections, speakers, guides, people with stories to share, volunteer supporters.
Our theme this year is ‘Hearth & Holme’ and we aim to have as many featured events as possible fitting within that theme, although we are always interested to hear of any proposals.
Some ideas are Holme Valley identity, house and building histories, the evolution of our local industries, local crafts and skills, the impact of the Industrial Revolution, our relationship with our environment, the evolution of home ownership, history of our local education, faith and worship in the local community, changing roles of women, street and place names, local pubs and hotels, culture, entertainment and the arts. We try to reach all sections of our community and so would particularly welcome proposals for events for families, children and young people.
